San Diego State wide receiver Jordan Napier, who said last week he was entering the NCAA transfer portal after a breakout season for the Aztecs, has changed his mind and will return for the 2025 season.
Napier announced the change of plans Wednesday afternoon on his Instagram account, posting a photo of himself with the phrase “Unfinished Business.” Five of his starting teammates used the same phrase in similar posts on Friday when they announced plans to return for the 2025 season.
Sophomore edge Trey White and sophomore linebacker Tano Letuli, both team captains, were among a group that also included junior cornerback Chris Johnson, sophomore safety Dalesean Staley and junior left guard Ross Ulugalu-Maseuli.
SDSU coach Sean Lewis said he was “excited for our team to have Jordan a part of our future. He, along with other key players, knows how special our place is and what we are building together.”
Napier had 43 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns this season. He caught passes of at least 29 yards in six different games. He had catches of at least 40 yards in four games, displaying a go-get-the-ball ability that made him one of SDSU starting quarterback Danny O’Neil’s favorite targets.
Napier, a redshirt freshman from Fontana, announced a week ago that he was entering the portal. His return is crucial for the SDSU receiving corps. Every other receiver with a reception this season has exhausted his eligibility, or, in the case of Louis Brown IV, decided to transfer.
