2024 All-CIF Football Teams
Offensive Player of the Year: Max Turner, RB, Granite Hills
This was a surprisingly easy pick. With only Turner and Lincoln QB Akili Smith Jr. nominated, Turner won on the first round of voting.
Turner led Granite Hills to the CIF San Diego Section Division 1 championship. He finished his senior season with 268 carries for 2,034 yards and 32 TDs and had 23 catches for 211 yards and four more TDs. He had 10 100-yard rushing games, with a season-high 271 yards and three TDs vs. Mount Miguel. He also had 242 yards and five TDs vs. San Marcos, 207 yards and three TDs against Mission Hills and 200 yards and a pair of scores vs. Helix.
“In addition to being a great player, Max is an exceptional young man,” said Granite Hills coach Kellan Cobbs.
Turner has signed to play collegiately at Utah Tech.
Defensive Player of the Year: Eugene Rice, DL, Lincoln
A unanimous selection, the 5-foot-10, 255-pound Rice finished the season with 117 tackles, six tackles-for-loss and five sacks for a Lincoln team that won the CIF San Diego Section Open Division championship and went on to beat Pittsburg to claim a State Division 1-AA title. Rice had a season-high 12 tackles in a playoff game vs. Mission Hills and totalled 37 tackles in four playoff games. He had at least seven tackles in every game this season. Rice finished his career with 220 tackles, 18 TFLs and 5 1/2 sacks. Playing one of the hardest schedules in the state, the Hornets surrendered just 214 points with three shutouts.
“Our team played great defense, and it all started with Eugene,” said Lincoln coach David Dunn.
Kicker of the Year: Tyler Prasuhn, Carlsbad
Prasuhn made 36 of 41 PATs this season and 7 of 9 field goals with a long of 40 yards. He had 59 kickoffs with 40 resulting in touchbacks. He also punted for the Lancers, averaging 34.4 yards on 14 punts with a long of 60 yards. He dropped five punts inside the 20. For his career, he made 140 of 148 PATs and 18 of 22 field goals.
