The ONEXPLAYER X1 line of handheld gaming PCs are basically tablets with the guts of a high-performance laptop and a pair of controllers that attach to the sides for gaming, but which can be disconnected when you don’t need them.
One Netbook launched the first model at the start of 2024 and expanded the ONEXPLAYER X1 family several times over the course of the year, with new models featuring different screen sizes and processor options. Now the company has launched the most powerful model to date. The ONEXPLAYER X1 Pro is a handheld gaming PC with a 10.95 inch display and an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. It’s available for pre-order from the ONEXPLAYER Store and expected to begin shipping on or around January 3, 2025.
The entry-level model is pretty expensive – it’s selling for $1399 during pre-orders, and it’s expected to have a retail price of $1599. But it has the kind of specs you’d expect from other top-tier handhelds, including 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Folks who want even more can pay extra for models with up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage.
Each model has the same basic features though, including a 10.95 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel, 120 Hz IPS LCD display with up to 540 nits brightness, a 65 Wh battery, support for 100W, and a processor that features:
- CPU: 4 Zen 5 CPU cores + 8 Zen 5C CPU cores (total of 12 cores, 24 threads), up to 5.1 GHz
- GPU: Radeon 890M with 16 RDNA 3.5 compute units, up to 2.9 GHz
- NPU: Ryzen AI with up to 50 TOPS of AI performance
The handheld features an M.2 2280 port with support for PCIe 4.0 storage and a microSD card reader with support for cards with up to 2TB of storage capacity and read speeds up to 300MB/s.
Ports include two USB4 Type-C ports, an OCuLink connector, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Other features of the ONEXPLAYER X1 Pro include a fingerprint reader and an IR camera with support for face recognition, a cooling system that includes dual copper heat pipes, an aluminum heat sink, and “liquid bearing fan,” and detachable controllers with hall-effect joysticks, RGB lighting effects, and a design that lets you combine the left and right controllers for use as a single wireless handheld controller.
There’s also an optional magnetic keyboard that’s currently on sale for $59 (down from a $79 list price).
Meanwhile if you’re looking for something cheaper and/or smaller, One Netbook continues to sell several other ONEXPLAYER X1 models including 10.95 inch versions with Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processors, and the 8.8 inch ONEXPLAYER X1 Mini with a Ryzen 7 8840U processor.
