Lincoln vs. Cathedral Catholic facts

• The teams first played in 1964 and have met 33 times. The Dons lead the all-time series 22-11 and are 12-4 against the Hornets since moving to Del Mar Heights Road in 2007 and renaming the school Cathedral Catholic.

• The teams have played each other at Qualcomm Stadium, Balboa Stadium, Mesa College, Southwestern College as well as Mira Mesa, Hoover, Madison, Patrick Henry and Serra high schools. Saturday marks their first game at Snapdragon Stadium.

• Cathedral Catholic has one state championship, beating Stockton St. Mary’s 37-34 in 2008. The Dons lost to Folsom 28-17 in the 2018 title game.

• Lincoln has won 10 CIF San Diego Section titles, tied for fourth all-time with Christian and El Camino. The Hornets beat Concord De La Salle 33-38 in 2022 for a state title.

• Cathedral Catholic and Lincoln have played just once in a San Diego Section championship game. The Dons won 24-7 in 2010.
