Acer is best known for making PCs and accessories, but over the years the company has also dabbled in other product categories from time to time, including tablets and phones.
While it’s been a few years since Acer offered any smartphones in the US or Europe, it looks like the company is dipping its toe back into the mobile space with two new budget phones for the Indian market.
The Acerpure Acerone Liquid S27E4 is a phone with a 6.75 inch, 1600 x 720 pixel IPS LCD, 350-nit display, a MediaTek MT6765X (2.2 GHz octa-core) processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Android 14 software.
It’s not exactly a premium device, but it does have a large 5,000 mAh battery, a microSD card reader for up to 256GB of removable storage, and it ships with Android 14.
Other features include support for WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and 4G LTE. The camera has a 20MP primary camera with autofocus, a 0.3MP secondary camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera
And the Acerpure Acerone Liquid S162E4 is a slightly smaller model with a 6.5 inch, 1600 x 720 pixel, 450 nit display, a MT6765 (Helio P35) display, a 16MP primary camera, and microSD card reader with support for cards up to 512GB.
Most other features are pretty similar between the two phones.
Aside from the fact that this marks Acer’s reentry into the phone space, there’s nothing particularly remarkable about the phones. But the fact that Acer is giving this product category another try is interesting, as it’s never a bad thing to see some additional competition in the budget smartphone space.
It’s unclear whether these phones (or any other Acer-branded phones) will be sold outside of India though.
