The ASRock Industrial BOX AI300 line of mini PCs are little computers that measure 4.63″ x 4.33″ x 1.93″ and feature support for up to 96GB of RAM, up to two PCIe Gen 4 SSDs, up to four displays, and up to an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 “Krackan Point” processor.
ASROck’s new AMD-powered mini PCs look a lot like their recently announced Intel counterparts, but there are a few key differences.
For one thing, the new BOX AI300 is only available in one size: there are no short and tall options, only tall. For another, the tall model doesn’t appear to support a 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD: there are only two M.2 slots for solid state storage. And instead of DDR5-6400 memory and Thunderbolt 4 ports, the AMD models have DDR5-5600 memory and USB4 ports.
The biggest difference though, is the processor: you can either opt for an AMD chip with up to 8 Zen 5/5C CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and a 50 TOPS NPU, or an Intel model with up to 16 CPU cores and an 11 TOPS NPU, but high-performance Intel Arc integrated graphics that Intel says should still offer strong AI performance.
Ports for the BOX AI300 systems include:
- 2 x USB4 (DP 1.4a)
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 2 x HDMI 2.1
- 1 x 2.5 GbE LAN (RTL8125BG)
- 1 x Gigabit LAN (RTL8111H)
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x DC Power input
The system also features an M.2 E-Key slot populated by a WiFi 6E + BT 5.2 wireless card and two M.2 slots for PCIe Gen 4×4 storage: one is an M.2 2280 slot while the other only supports M.2 2242 or shorter cards.
