The Asus NUC 14 Pro AI is a small desktop computer that measures 130 x 130 x 34mm (5.12″ x 5.12″ x 1.34″ and features an Intel Lunar Lake processor with Intel Arc graphics, an Intel AI Boost NPU with up to 48 TOPS of performance for on-device AI processing, and support for up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory.
After introducing the NUC 14 Pro AI last fall, Asus recently announced that it’d be available this month for $850 and up. The company has also revealed a second version with identical hardware on the inside. But it’s what’s on the outside of the new NUC 14 Pro AI+ that makes this version unique.
This version of the little computer has a semi-transparent chassis that allows you to see some of the internal components. And there’s a “multi-color” E Ink display on top that can be used to display graphics.
Since E Ink screens can display a static image without using any power, you can set a logo, picture, or pattern that will be visible even when the device is powered off. Asus includes an app on the device that lets you “generate AI images” to “create unique personal identification designs.”
There’s also an LED light ring around the edges of the top cover, but that will obviously only work when the system is powered on.
There’s no word on which E Ink color display technology Asus is using or how much more the NUC 14 AI+ will cost when compared with the standard version of this mini PC. But aside from the case and E Ink screen, the two computers are pretty much identical.
Both have fingerprint readers on top of the case and power and Copilot buttons on the front. Both support up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V Lunar Lake processor running at 30 watts (there are also Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 options), and both support up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-8533 on-package memory, up to a 4 TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4×4 NVMe SSD, and WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The computers have a 2.5 GbE Ethernet port with an Intel I226-V controller as well as Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and 3.5mm audio ports. NUC 14 Pro AI and NUC 14 Pro AI+ systems come with a 120W power adapter.
