The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is a 2-in-1 tablet that’s made for gaming. Asus has been selling versions of this 13.4 inch tablet for a few years. While earlier models paired Intel or AMD processors with NVIDIA graphics, the new Asus ROG Flow Z13 (GZ302) is the company’s first all-AMD gaming tablet. That’s thanks to its AMD Strix Halo processor with Radeon 8060S graphics.
AMD’s new chips feature integrated graphics with the kind of performance you’d normally expect from a discrete GPU. These mobile processors feature up to 40 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores and up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5x-8000 memory – up to 96GB of which can be allocated to the GPU. You’ll have to pay a pretty penny to get your hands on a tablet with a Strix Halo processor though – the new Asus ROG Flow Z13 is expected to sell for around $2,000 and up.
While the new model has integrated graphics that should be more powerful than many discrete GPUs, there are also 40 Gbps USB4 port that will allow you to connect an external GPU or other hardware. Unfortunately Asus did not opt for Thunderbolt 5, so you won’t get the best possible performance if you decide to connect the 2025 ROG XG Mobile eGPU dock, and since Asus doesn’t include its proprietary XG Mobile connector on the new tablet, you cannot use previous-gen docks with the 2025 version of the tablet either.
In addition to the processor upgrade, the ROG Flow Z13 (GZ302) features some changes to the physical design. The tablet’s display is now a 13.4 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel IPS LCD touchscreen display with a 180 Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. The keyboard features better key travel (at 1.7mm) and has a larger touchpad.
And there’s a new action button on the side of the tablet that can be mapped to any function, but which opens a settings widget by default, making it easier to interact with the ROG Flow Z13 without touching the keyboard. Asus includes a similar button on its ROG Ally handheld gaming PCs, which are designed to be used without a keyboard.
Asus also put a glass window on the back of the tablet with support for optional RGB lighting effects, but this can be turned off if you’d prefer to forego the lighting.
Other features include a high-performance cooling system with a vapor chamber and “arc flow fans,” quad speakers, 13MP rear and 5MP front-cameras (including an IR camera for facial recognition), and support for WiFi 7.
Ports incluide USB4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, HDMI 2.1, 3.5mm audio, and and a microSD card reader. The USB4 ports are “full function” ports that can be used for data, video, and power – but there’s also a slim Asus power jack.
The new ROG Flow Z13 features a 70 Wh battery and support for fast charging: it takes about a half hour to go from a 0% to 50% charge. And that’s all packed into a tablet that measures 0.51 inches thick and weighs 2.64 pounds – it’s a bit chunky by iPad or Android tablet standards, but impressively compact for a mobile gaming PC with this kind of horsepower.
