Asus launched the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro late last year. Now it looks like the company could be planning to expand its gaming smartphone family with a new ROG Phone 9 FE model that could be a slightly cheaper alternative to the flagship models.
While the company hasn’t officially announced plans to launch the new phone yet, it’s already received certifications from wireless agencies in several countries. And now the folks at 91Mobiles have published leaked pictures and specs obtained from “industry sources,” giving us a pretty good picture of what to expect from the upcoming phone.
If those specs are accurate, the ROG Phone 9 FE will be a lot like the ROG Phone 9, featuring a similar design, display, and a similar camera system. But instead of a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, it’s expected to have a previous-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which could help Asus keep the price a little lower.
It’s also expected to have a slightly smaller battery and less storage.
There are still a few things we don’t know about the new phone, like how much it will cost, when it will be available, or whether it supports the same accessories as other models in the series, and whether the Anime Vision LED lights on the back of the phone are identical to those on the entry-level ROG Phone 9.
