The Monarchs upset Marin Catholic, beat No. 8 Rocklin, which had knocked out North No. 1 Branson, and then topped Mountain View St. Francis. All three wins were 3-0 sweeps. Mitty, which has won 18 of its last 19 matches, is led by Leyna Nguyen, Chayse Courtney and Ellie Diehl Palmer. … Cathedral Catholic has won 22 matches in a row, beating Los Alamitos, Redondo Union and Santa Ana Mater Dei along the way. Ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 8 in the nation, the Dons are led by Madyson McCarthy, Sophia Johnson, Allison Dzieciuch and JoJo Wilson. Cathedral Catholic’s hasn’t lost since suffering back-to-back defeats to Los Angeles Marymount and Phoenix Xavier College Prep in early September. The Dons’ only other loss was to Cornerstone Christian of Texas.
