The Padres on Friday announced their minor league coaching staffs, which includes former Padres pitcher Daniel Camarena beginning his coaching career in the Arizona Complex League, former big-league first baseman Matt Adams joining Triple-A El Paso as a bench coach, assistant farm director Mike Daly moving out of high Single-A Fort Wayne’s dugout and back into his full-time executive role and Lukas Ray moving from low Single-A Lake Elsinore’s dugout to lead the TinCaps.

The 32-year-old Camarena, a Cathedral Catholic product, had been in the Padres system since 2021, when he made six appearances with the big-league team and infamously hit a grand slam off Max Scherzer. Camarena had a 7.74 ERA while pitching for five Padres affiliates in 2024.

The 36-year-old Adams was originally drafted in the 23rd round by the St. Louis Cardinals and played for Padres manager Mike Shildt in the minors and later in St. Louis after Shildt replaced Mike Matheny as the manager in 2018.

Adams will work alongside Pete Zamora, who will be in his second year as the manager at Triple-A El Paso.

Luke Montz will manage Double-A San Antonio, Brian Burres will manage the Storm after serving as a pitching coach in the Arizona Complex League last year, Jhonaldo Pozo will manage the Padres’ rookie-ball team in Arizona and Brallan Pérez and Diego Cedeño will mange the Padres’ rookie-ball teams in the Dominican Republic.

Former big-league catcher Kevin Plawecki is also beginning his coaching career as an instructor in the Arizona Complex League after playing the last two years at Triple-A El Paso.

The player development staff also includes former Mariners manager Scott Servais, as previously reported, joining the team as a special assistant to baseball operations and player development. Allen Craig, A.J. Ellis and Craig Stammen are also returning to the organization as on-field special assistants serving both the big-league coaching staff and baseball operations.
