34th annual Alex Spanos All-Star Classic

When: Noon Saturday

Where: Mira Mira High School

Format: San Diego Section football players will square off in a North vs. South game

Tickets: $10 for fans 14 and older, $5 for seniors and kids aged 5-13. Tickets can be purchased with cards at gofan.co or with cash at the gate.

Preview: The South boasts All-CIF players Braylon Cardwell. Brady Eads, Thomas Donovan and Max Turner. Donovan passed for more than 4,000 this season at Grossmont. Brandt Barker, who threw for 2,500 yards at El Capitan, is the South’s other quarterback. Turner ran for more than 2,000 at Granite Hills. …. The North has All-CIF players Colton Thomas, Daniel Stehly, Giovanni Harte, Liam Kline, Mateo Bresenden, Nehemiah Brunson and Tanner Doyle. The quarterbacks are Ty Hurst of Poway, who threw for more than 2,400 yards, and Joe Vinup of Oceanside, the Valley League Offensive Player of the Year.

Coaches: The South is coached by Kellan Cobbs of Granite Hills. The North is coached by Mitch Donnelly of Westview.

History: This is the longest-running high school all-star game in California. Since the format went North-South in 1995, the North leads the series 17-11. The North has won seven straight games, including last year’s 23-8 victory.
