It’s official: The PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational will move to Torrey Pines Golf Course.
The tournament at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, hosted by golf icon Tiger Woods, was displaced because of the devastating fires in Pacific Palisades.
That means San Diego will be the site of two Tour events in a span of three weeks. The Farmers Insurance Open is currently unfolding at Torrey Pines, which hosted the U.S. Open in 2008 and 2021.
“We are grateful to Farmers Insurance, Mayor Todd Gloria and the City of San Diego and the Century Club for extending the invitation to relocate The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines,” Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement released Friday morning.
Woods added: “We look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”
The Genesis is one of eight “signature events” in 2025 that offer more purse money and FedEx Cup points. The tournament will offer $20 million to players, compared to $9.3 million at the Farmers.
The Union-Tribune reported the possibility of the move on Jan. 17.
Century Club CEO and Farmers Insurance Open tournament director Marty Gorsich said at the time: “We’re not afraid of a challenge.”
