SilverStone made a name for itself with sleek-looking PC cases. The FLP01 is unabashedly not one of those… at least not in a 21-century way.
The fluted front panel and its taupe-y gray highlight would have been right at home on the oversized pages of Computer Shopper. The company first announced the FLP01 computer case in November, but at the time it was only expected to go on sale in Japan. Now for the Japanese market in November, but now the company has posted an English-language product page for the computer case that provides more information and suggests that the FLP01 could get a global launch in the future.
SilverStone keeps things as old school as possible, even adorning the FLP01 with a pair of faux 5.25″ drives. The lower unit flips down to provide access to a pair of USB 3.0 type-A ports, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The one on top actually sits in front of a drive cage which allows you to mount an optical drive for media center applications.
The cage’s design allows for combinations of up to three SSDs and hard drives. Another 2.5-inch mount is positioned on the left-hand side of the case just behind the reset button.
The FLP01 offers generous 27 liters of interior space. It can accommodate GPUs up to 309mm in length and up to 7 expansion cards. Chunky heatsinks won’t be an issue either, as the case can handle CPU coolers up to 138mm tall.
There’s room for plenty of cooling, too. You can mount three 120mm fans on the sides (one on the left, two on the right) and two 80mm fans on the back.
The product page for the FLP01 on SilverStone’s global website has been published in English and there’s a multilingual manual available for download. Those seem like reasonably good indications that SilverStone believes there’s enough interest in the case’s retro look to make it more widely available.
Won’t it look great next to a gloriously clunky Cornerstone monitor?
