They aren’t big or broad-shouldered.

They don’t pass the eye test.

But Stockton’s Lincoln High School is lightning quick, shoots the long ball with precision and plays smothering defense.

Monday night, the Trojans finished a four-game sweep of the American Division of The Holiday Classic at Torrey Pines with a 62-47 win over Mission Bay (13-4) in the championship game.

Ranked No. 4 in the state by MaxPreps.com, Lincoln (10-1) ran roughshod over San Diego teams, beating La Jolla Country Day 75-40 and San Marcos 78-49 en route to Monday’s title game.

“We win with defense,” said Lincoln senior Anthony Moore, who is headed to Weber State, choosing the Wildcats over UC San Diego. “We play lockdown defense.”

Mission Bay, which saw its 10-game winning streak come to an end, led 6-4 with 4:06 to play in the first quarter.

Lincoln went on a 21-4 run and the Bucs, ranked No. 6 in San Diego and No. 31 in the state, were chasing the rest of the game.

“Look at the final score, and that run was the difference in the game,” said Mission Bay coach Marshawn Cherry.

“You can’t win a game at the start, but you can lose it. And we lost it early. Hey hats off to Lincoln. They played great. They stressed us, shot it like crazy. Honestly, they played like us on steroids. We played hard, but they played harder.”
