The Kidwants KN1 mini PC is a small, cheap desktop computer with mostly unremarkable specs. But it has one stand-out feature: the top cover is a touchpad with support for multitouch gestures.
Theoretically that means all you need to use the computer is a display and keyboard. But I’d probably still recommend connecting a mouse, because I can’t imagine that it’d be particularly comfortable to place your hand atop this mini PC to tap and swipe.
While it’s nice to see mini PC makers pushing models with unusual features as a way to stand out in an increasingly crowded space, this model is hard to recommend.
Not only are there the questionable ergonomics of putting a touchpad on the top cover so that it’d be raised above the surface of your desk, but the KN1 Touch is powered by an Intel Celeron N4000 processor. That’s a 6-watt, dual-core chip based on Gemini Lake architecture. The Celeron N4000 was released in 2017 and Intel stopped supporting it at the end of 2024. There’s really very little reason to buy a computer with this processor in 2025.
But at least the KN1 Touch is cheap: a model with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of eMMC storage is available from Amazon for a little over $100.
Other features include an M.2 2280 slot with support for an optional SATA SSD, support for dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, and a set of ports that includes:
- 2 x HDMI
- 4 x USB 3.0 Type-A
- 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1 x Ethernet
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x 12V DC power input
The computer measures 128 x 113 x 43mm (5.04″ x 4.45″ x 1.69″).
